SOUTH AFRICA: THE GREATER KRUGER - SABI SANDS AND TIMBAVATI

Covering nearly 2 million hectares, the Greater Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. Kruger was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld and is the flagship of South Africa’s national parks.

Within the Greater Kruger, Sabi-Sands and Timbavati private game reserves both share unfenced boundary with the national park. These are two of the most prestigious areas within Kruger, famous for their big cat sightings, and hosting some of Africa’s most luxurious lodges.

Kruger provides exceptional big five game viewing, award winning luxury lodges and high standards of guiding and service - all within South Africa’s borders. Although these protected areas do not offer the same feeling of remote wilderness as the Luangwa Valley and the Okavango Delta, the standards of the luxurious airconditioned accommodation is without equal and the game viewing provides some of the best photographic opportunities in Africa.

These lodges can be reached on a one and a half hour shared charter flight from OR Tambo International Airport.
